Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt is set to join the cast of Kalki 2898 AD Part 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2024 sci-fi blockbuster. The actress, who made her Telugu debut with RRR under director S.S. Rajamouli, will reportedly play a crucial new character in director Nag Ashwin‘s upcoming sequel.
Alia Bhatt’s Role in Kalki 2
According to industry reports, Alia Bhatt is not playing the role of SUM-80, which was portrayed by Deepika Padukone in the first part. That character is expected to be played by Sai Pallavi in the sequel.
Instead, Alia is believed to be playing a brand-new character with significant importance in the film’s narrative. Sources suggest that the actress has already begun shooting for her portions in Hyderabad, joining the sequel’s expanding ensemble cast.

Director Nag Ashwin recently shared an update on the sequel’s shooting schedule: “We finished 2 schedules of Kalki 2. We start regular shooting in the next 2 to 3 months. Planning to do non-stop shoot from then. After shooting, will finalize the release date.”
